Your Story as Your Work in the World
Using your voice in the darkest season
As the season in the northern hemisphere moves towards its darkest day at the coming solstice, I’ve been thinking about our voices, our stories and our work in the world.
Telling your story is an act of bravery, an act of defiance and, ultimately, of trust. When you move toward telling your story authentically—whether that be through the act of writing or through creating some other soul-based work in the world—you step out of what you have been programmed to do.
You step into your true nature.
To do so, in whatever manner, is an act of courage. The world around you may not feel welcoming, and our culture teaches us to shrink down, to follow what’s prescribed.
You may have doubts. Doubts about your path, your ability, your own sense of knowing.
In moments when you sense that cold flick of questioning or worry, I invite you to remember what your soul already knows—that you are infinitely loved, that you are always safe.
Then, then, you can lift your voice and share your story. Share your message, yourself.
As we travel through the coming days to the end of the calendar year and through the multitude of holiday celebrations across so many cultures, I want to wish you well.
May you be filled and nourished. May you know joy.
