Your Work in the World

An invitation to stillness

When we sit down to write – whether a story, a blog post, marketing copy or something else, the mind can be a noisy place. It can hum with things left undone. Or clunk with criticisms or doubts. It can flit from the task at hand, to the morning’s news, to a worrying appointment the next day and then back again.

Is it any wonder that it’s hard to find the words sometimes?

If you have a stillness practice, I invite you to enter it for a few moments before you write. Then, as you gently move out of the practice and onto the page, see if you can attune to what you hear, trying to capture the words as faithfully and freely as you can.
