What to do when you’re unsure about your next step for your work in the world
Sometimes when we're doing our souls’ work, bringing what we feel called to do into the world, we can get tripped up. The way forward seems so uncertain, like walking in a misty field at dawn. You have only the dew drops and an occasional brush from a plant to remind you where you are.
The haze may be so dense, it’s tempting to stop moving all together. We wonder, what if I get lost or travel off the path? Stumble? Or never make it back home?
Your mind swills its worry beads: Maybe the business won't work. What if no one wants my art. Perhaps my words will wither, cold and unread.
You have no idea what step to take next
In truth, you can sense something. There are a thousand possibilities ahead, but you can't see which one is right. You want to know which one, to soothe that ache to be certain. Maybe you look to see what other creatives or coaches or healers have to say. It could be you sign up for another course, to learn the way. Maybe you pull out your card deck, do a reading.
Any of those may help, of course. Or they may only reveal further possibilities.
None of which you can see clearly.
If this is where you are, I see you. It can be hard to be in the unknowing. And I invite you to consider this: You may need to rest, to pull over to a wayside. Once there, close your eyes. Sense your feet on the soil and ask:
What is it that I know I love?
Then, as your very next step, you simply turn to that. As you begin to move toward what you want, what you deeply desire, the haze will lift for a moment and you will feel a small spark of yes.
Sink into that, trust it. Embody it.
It's that which will lead you forward.
