Building Your Business
Staying Present For Your Business When Facing the Unknown
I got the call at 1:37 in the afternoon last week.
It was from my Dad.
He was calling from his mobile and something was wrong, I could feel it.
My mom’s health had unexpectedly taken a rapid decline. She wasn’t sleeping or eating well. She was dealing with mood swings. My dad was worried.
As I listened, I took a deep breath, and got ready to step into something completely unknown.

The sun warmed my forearms. Leaves rustled in the trees, and the wind carried the scent of lilac across the pasture. I was standing next to Sunna, a dove-gray Mustang who’d lived in the wild just 18 months before. She whinnied softly as I stroked her forehead.
I was marveling at the deep sense of peace melting through my veins when suddenly I realized what day it was.
May 18th. My one-year anniversary.
A year before, I left my corporate Marketing job and walked into full-time self-employment.
Be You: The World Needs You and Your Gifts
The message I wanted to share with you this week has changed. because as I sat down a few days ago to start work on this post, another school shooting occurred. This time in STEM School Highlands Ranch in Colorado.
Right after we moved to central Illinois, nearly seven years ago now, I was up in Chicago for meetings for my corporate job. An unfamiliar 800 number came through my cell phone. Thinking it was a sales call, I let it go to voicemail.
I found out later it was a school district communication.
